+1 ND is as social-justice oriented as they come.
Putting aside for a moment the role of social justice in the Jesuit tradition, which is unique, I’ll simply say that a school that invites Mike Pence to be commencement speaker cannot claim a deep and abiding commitment to social justice. Yes, Georgetown hosts speakers of all types, from all political backgrounds. But commencement speakers are a statement about who you are and what you value as an institution.
As an aside I just took a look at the recent commencement speakers for some of the colleges of interest to my child. Interesting angle to consider about a place, I has not considered before. That said - not sure it should not overly influence a choice of college, but it is interesting.
If your kid (and you) are lucky - a famous comedian will have graduated form the school and be invited to speak the year of their commencement.
