Update from OP: it got no better for the rest of the week. She was peeing while they were outside playing before pick up. Major pee right after she tried on their potty. Two days of that including peeing into her boots on Thurs and I’m going to pull ups at daycare. I’m hoping a sticker incentive might help. She’s still using the potty at home just fine.

The daycare has a little potty. She just tells me that she doesn’t want to go in it. On the plus side I just got a great deal on the pull ups with my cvs coupons.

This exact thing happened to us. She was afraid of the potty at school. I would take her at drop off and then she would hold it until she put on a pull up for nap time. We tried various things but honestly she just eventually outgrew it as she got big enough to really not want to pee in a pull up.

Give it time. My son did this for a full 2 weeks after he was trained. He wouldn't even pee in the pull-up they put on him for nap time. I have no idea how he held it it, but kids have much stronger bladders than we do. Just have them keep trying, she will figure it out.

When you drop her off walk her to the toilet first thing. When you pick her, have her use the toilet before you go.

My daughter was the same, but in reverse. She went easily at daycare but held it at home until naptime and bedtime diapers. Finally after a couple of weeks she started using the potty at home, too. I worried about a UTI but she was fine.

Yes. My son refused to sit on the daycare potty. The next day, my DH took him in and found they had this big stool thing he was scared of. He removed that, DS sat down and peed, the rest is history.

Is the toilet at your house the same as the toilet at daycare?

My daughter took a couple of weeks to be comfortable using the potty at school after she was comfortable at home. Give it time, but also try going in the potty with her first thing when you get to daycare everyday and see if you can make her comfortable.

Can you get same toilet or toilet seat that you have at home?

My son had that phrase holding pee at daycare. He was potty trained at home, and there's no accident both at home & at daycare. The problem was that he did not go potty at daycare for 6-9 hours, including naptime. After 1-2 weeks, we put him back to pull ups at daycare for a bit longer because we found it nerve-wracking & unhealthy. He was scared of the big potty at daycare, and we have a small potty at home. After 1-2 months, he was more comfortable to go potty at daycare. And, one good news was that he was also night time trained at the same time.

Stay with her in the afternoon and you go to the bathroom with her. Do this as soon as possible. Once she’s peed in the toilet there she’ll be comfortable.

Also talk about urination in terms like “opening a little door inside” . Sometimes kids get confused with pushing for poop but releasing for pee.

Give it a few weeks. Some hold it until nap time for a bit. If they are willing, ask if they will have her go last in line for potty before nap.

Are there any big differences between potty set up at home and daycare?

So I trained my DD over the holidays, as we were all home. She is 2 years and 5 months. Things went very well. Her first day back at daycare was perfect.

However, now she won't go in the daycare potty. She'll go in there and sit, but nothing is coming out. I'm concerned about the potential for UTIs. We are having her go before we leave in the morning and she's going just fine when she gets home. She's not dry for naps yet, so she is wetting a little at that point in a diaper.
