Don’t buy a three year old used Toyota. You can get a brand new one for not much more.

Not always. You can get a brand new 2019 Camry for around $22k. A 2016 with 50,000 miles is going to run you around $15k. For $7k, you get a warranty and another 50,000 miles of useful life, plus no surprise maintenance or repair costs that that other car might have entering its fourth year on the road. For some cars, the gap between new and used is even narrower.

Because I've driven a few lately as rental cars and based on that, I think they would be worth a look. And I own two Hondas.

I drove a Jetta recently as a rental car and I found it to be really cheap feeling and loud.

I'd add Honda, Kia and Hyundai to the list. But if you are interested in the Lexus, those probably won't make the cut.

All kidding aside - I would go for the Toyota Corolla first, then second the Lexus.

And stay away from the last two.

If you can afford it the Lexus.

Otherwise the Corolla.

Both should last for a long long time.

Need a dependable sedan to take me around town and to and from work (currently drive a corolla). Most of the time, it’s just me in the car, sometimes someone else in the front - but nice to have a back to cart things around when necessary. Any thoughts on the below welcome and appreciated:

Toyota Corolla
Lexus IS 250 (leaning towards this)
VW Jetta
Infiniti Q50
