I would have a toddler party earlier in the day with a big costco cake, and then have the leftover cake for the superbowl party that evening.

Sounds ok to me. Or you could just have a normal birthday party earlier in the day. Which would probably work better - people might want to relax and watch the game without toddlers running around.

I'd be happy to attend a party that combined both. But the time is tricky if the toddler has toddler friends you'd want there too. Unless you have a group that does later bedtimes (I did but my kids were the lame ones melting anytime after 7:30pm so we always left things early.)

Skip calling your Super Bowl party their birthday. You could do it earlier in the day or just skip it overall.

That is not a party for your child but you. Just skip their party as a toddler will not care and have your party.

Why don’t you have birthday cakes before the super bowl? Are there going to be any other kids there?

From your toddlers perspective it might be more fun to have cake with just your family on her birthday. Usually toddlers don’t enjoy being around lots of strange adults drinking beer.

If you're not inviting other toddlers to a Super Bowl party you're perfectly fine! I'm sure the adults won't mind cake and singing happy birthday to your kid. And you only have to have people over to your house once versus twice.

We're a birthday party family and we really only have friends who have kids. My son's birthday falls on Super Bowl weekend and we've always done a brunch birthday party for him on Super Bowl Sunday. Our friends love it, we have Bloody Mary's and mimosas for the adults, and plenty of hearty breakfast foods. People are out of our house by noon, the kids all take awesome naps, and then the adults can enjoy Super Bowl however they want to that night.

This sounds totally fine! I think the first pp was responding because they thought you were going to like, invite a bunch of extra toddlers over. But if you are inviting the friends you were going to invite to your super bowl party over and then have some cake and sing happy birthday to your daughter that sounds like a great idea. Everyone likes cake and toddlers don't need big parties all about them.

I think it's fine. A toddler birthday -- I imagine it would be close friends of yours? The toddler is never going to remember, but you get to squeeze it in, hang with your friends and have some cake.

Assuming the friends also have kids then yes it’s a bad idea. If they are even slightly interested in the game having toddlers running around and interrupting the game for cake may not be well received. Plus won’t the kids have to go to bed an hour into the game? It usually starts at 6:30.

We were going to host a Super Bowl party and my daughter’s birthday is a few days after. My older child has an out of town event the following weekend so we can’t have the party the weekend after and then it is Valentine’s/Pres Day weekend.

Would it be a bad idea to invite over our friends over for super bowl and have some birthday cake for my toddler?
