Swappa is the safest place to buy used phones. Least chance of getting ripped off. Ebay and Craigslist are the wild wild west of used phone sales.

Swappa is good. Some sellers will specify the battery health in the description. A lot of them are cell phone repair shops, so they'll note that they replaced the battery. I have an original Pixel that's about 3 years old. The battery, however, is only two months old and works flawlessly.

IPhone repair shops have them. Bought one for $190

You're basically setting your kids up to have a stolen phone if you're only willing to pay 100 bucks and want to buy in person.

Ebay, but would second the suggestion for a refurbished. Problem with a 'used' phone is battery life. Batteries have a relatively limited recharge limit. After say 500x recharges they begin to lose efficiency. Might be more cost-efficient over the next 3x years to get a phone with a full capacity battery.

Swappa. I'm on my 3rd used phone for the family. No issues.

I buy them on ebay.

I buy used/refurbished on Amazon. I am usually buying two models back, so the market isn't as competitive.
