I regret the partner but not the decision to become sexually active when I did.

I think high school is "average/normal" not "early." I mean 15, ya a little early, but 17/18?? Totally normal.

I delayed sex until post high school and I think I married young at 27. But I also had plenty of time to meet other men. It’s not a race and I’m glad I waited until I was more mature. And I definitely, definitely don’t regret not sleeping with any high schoolers.

Many people meet their spouses in college. I don’t think that’s really young. We got married at 26 and 27 years old. So...same as you. Not sure why you felt defensive when reading my post.

OP, the average age of sex for the first time is 17 in the U.S. It's not "so young." It's what most people do (and have done since the dawn of history.)

The more interesting question is for those who delayed, how and why and do they have regrets.

I regret my first HS partner only because he was the ex of two of my friends, and it put a strain on those relationships. My second HS partner was someone I went out with for more than a year, and no regrets. (I don't know how he feels - I was pretty mean when we broke up.)

I think at another point in my life I had some sense of self-worth tied up in being sexually attractive to partners, but that's not because I had sex in HS - I think it's just because I was an insecure kid.

No regrets. In HS I was only sexually active with my boyfriend.

College, on the other hand ...

No regrets. Just bc it started in HS doesn’t mean I had a large number of partners. Is that your implication?
