I used to love the old Domino. I don’t know what the new one is like.

I kind of lost interest when they started focusing more on celebrities. There was a Kardashian issue that was probably the beginning of the end of me.

I'm sure the celebrity issues sell really well off the rack, but they just aren't my cup of tea.

So many magazines are dirt cheap now, but I also think about the resources it takes to make them and that adds to the "cost" in a sense. To their credit AD's print quality and paper is still pretty good while Southern Living and BHG have really backed away on those things. I'm bummed that my Traditional Home subscription got moved over to BHG. I didn't feel it was an equal trade and cancelled.

I’m finding it increasingly tiresome. Too many billionaire homes, not enough multi-millionaire homes. There’s a point where I can’t bear to look at any more trophy art. The celebrities start coming across as the “normals.”

I don’t know why there’s no American equivalent of UK House & Garden or Cabana - they’re just as insanely rich and escapist but even if the “artsy” element is fake I still like it.

Plus, and I know this is an unfair pet peeve, they’re constantly profiling homeowners without mentioning the money that bought the house. For example, the website currently features the insane Brooklyn home of an artist and her daughter. Well, she’s David Schwimmer’s ex wife. Not that it’s not okay for her to have the house, but why identify the owner if you’re going to be so evasive. I guess that’s an unfair journalistic standard. There are also often “interior designers” showing off homes who have unidentified hedge fund husbands. I wouldn’t care if I liked the house but I really don’t understand why they’re featuring the current house at all EXCEPT for that she’s David Schwimmer’s ex wife. The house is lovely and fine, but nothing unique imo.

Go through them. Find images that speak to you and scan. Keep online and recycle the rest.

Is this just eye candy for the Will-never-haves, or is it m possible to pull small ideas from it. At a buck an issue ... add to clutter? Who reads this? TIA
