Tom Sawyer
Little Princess
I had not seen Harry Potter at all or read any of the books. Coincidentally, found the #1 and DVD from Goodwill yesterday, and ofcourse I started to watch DVD before reading the book. I read a few pages and I liked the way she writes. Easy to read for foreigner like myself.
Once the kids are bigger, add some Russian books. If the books are too long, I'd read the myself, retell the book and then watch a movie. For reading, Chekhov's short stories are great.

We have been doing family “book club”... reading books and then watching the movie or show. What have been your favorites?

Some of the ones we have done over the last couple of years have been..

Dr Seuss books/movies
All the Roald Dahl books/movies
Charlottes Web
Wizard of Oz
Pippi Longstocking
Chronicles of Narnia
Percy Jackson
Hoot
Harry Potter (just starting these)
