We gave our pup pumpkin with every meal for a year or so. He eventually outgrew the need for it.

Had similar. Every time the dog went out to "go" had a normal followed by the runs. The below solved the issue. Never another case of diarrhea.

My dog with a sensitive stomach does very well on Nulo brand dog food. We get it online from Chewy.

Try Stella and Chewy’s freeze dried raw patties. They are great and easy to prepare (just crumble and add water).

Honest Kitchen works well for my dog.

My diarrhea-prone puppy did well on the grain-free puppy version of Taste of the Wild.

When he was old enough, we switched to the adult "ancient grain" Taste of the Wild, and the diarrhea re-appeared. I suspect my dog can't tolerate some of the grains in dog food. He eats our food no problem, but I haven't gotten to the point of making his food yet.

Now he's on Diamond Naturals, but I might try a adult Taste of the Wild again, if I can find one without grains.

That happened with my golden. We tried like 10 different foods. Ultimately, it was a mix of some canned food and Wellness kibble, I think it was a whitefish and rice or something like that. Eventually weaned him from the canned.

Also, pumpkin can help firm things up in the short term.

Add vegetables one-by-one and vitamin supplements until you have a workable home-cooked diet for your pup. He may not be able to eat any commercially prepared food or even a particularly varied home-cooked diet, so work with your vet, or have him recommend someone that can help you ensure that your little guy gets what he needs.

I have a 5 month old French bulldog puppy and can’t find a dog food that doesn’t upset his stomach. When we brought him home, he was eating Royal Canin and had terrible gas. On the advice of our vet, we switched him to Orijen Puppy. The gas went away, but he developed terrible diarrhea. The et said to give him boiled chicken and rice and slowly reintroduce a different dog food. The chicken and rice cleared up the diarrhea, but every time we try to reintroduce even just a little bit of dog food, the diarrhea starts again. I’ve tried three different puppy foods recommended for dogs with sensitive stomachs and had the same results with every one.

The vet has tested him for parasites and whatever else you can test for and everything comes back negative. She prescribed probiotics, but nothing clears up the diarrhea except a purely chicken and rice diet, which isn’t nutritionally sound long-term.

Anybody else deal with something similar? If so, what if anything actually worked to solve the issue?
