It’s the person, not the sibling. I’m the eldest of four and have never lectured anyone once I left for college.

My older brother lectured me about something and was angry with me. It had to do with a favor I was doing with my parents and actually stated "If you don't do this and this I will come down there and so help me..." so I laughed. I laughed and laughed. I said "Ok old man (he's 16 years older than me) you gonna show up at my door and beat me up??? Let's go". It shut him up right away.

Are you asking them for advice? My younger sister is constantly asking me for advice, keeps pushing for it and pushing for it even when I try to avoid saying anything, and then when I do give advice (because she asked), she gets angry that I didn't give her the advice she wanted to hear. It works both ways, OP.

Oh man. Butting into my baby siblings’ affairs is definitely one of my hobbies.

My mother is 68 and still gets all kinds of unsolicited advice from her older sister. I've tried hard not to do the same to my younger sister.

I'm the youngest of 3, all in our 40s. Once I hit college, our relationships all shifted to adults. I go to them for advice, if I want it. But if I don't want it, no one is lecturing me. We all love and respect each other, so no need for lectures.

My DH's older sister wants to lecture him, and they aren't as close because of it. He'd never ever go to her for advice because she is a mess in a lot of ways.

No, it never ends. My eldest sister does it and so does DH’s older brother. We tune them out.

Do I have thoughts and opinions about my siblings and their lives and choices? Of course! But if it's not harming anyone, I shut my mouth. None of my business.
