I would definitely look into a writing class. Our oldest is a senior and can write a strong essay. Many of her friends can not and it has made the college application process very hard for them. Having strong writing skills will serve her well in any major she chooses.

Maybe for an arts and crafts type classic summer camp. But there are high schoolers in music, drama, and STEM camps.

As for classes, you will need to talk to your specific high school to see what it will accept. But a summer writing program is always a good investment even if not for credit.
MCPS requires 70 or 75. I’m not sure which, but she has 125 already. She does specialty camps, not the typically horseback rides and canoeing. They don’t have youth counselors. She’ll continue private lessons for her instrument even if she doesn’t go to camp at all.
The writing option sounds interesting. That’s the one area of instruction I found weak in MCPS. Thank you.

She should look into being a CIT at this age. Especially if her high school requires community service to graduate. DCPS requires 100 hours and my dc was able to knock most off that out the summer before 9th.
As for classes, you will need to talk to your specific high school to see what it will accept. But a summer writing program is always a good investment even if not for credit.

Did you even read what I wrote? She doesn’t want to do camp all summer.
This is what she wants to do. We can afford one session. She normally gets scholarships to pay for camp, but we aren’t FARMS so we will have to pay for summer school. It’s not cheap.

She doesn’t want to go to camp all summer. It looks like we can afford one summer school session. What should she take? She will have Alg 1 and 2 years of a FL completed.
