Is it possible to double major in commercial dance and something completely unrelated? My DD is interested in the Commercial Dance Program, but I won't pay for a dance degree unless she combines it with a more practical major.
Can you explain Commercial Dance to me, from a dance candidate's perspective (I know I can google it, but rather have your perspective)? TIA.
It's more geared to the type of work a dancer would get on the west coast coast, such as dancing in videos or being a back up dancer on tour, possibly cruise ships, etc. Most college dance programs are geared for dancers who plan on joining a dance company and oddly enough they are Modern based instead of ballet. I find it odd, because there are very few modern dance companies that exist as opposed to ballet, but for some reason college dance programs focus on modern dance even though modern dance is rarely performed.
