Immediately, ie, once we were cleared to have sex again (8 weeks) we did, and never used birth control. Kids are 20
Months apart, but would have 15 months spacing between my first two if I hadn’t had a miscarriage.

For us, our concern about infertility for #2 trumped other spacing considerations. I asked my ob/gyn about spacing when I discussed birth control at my 8 week post partum appointment and she did not say anything about specifically waiting a certain amount of time, although did recommend 12 months between deliveries. I asked abut that as I had a c-section and thought I might need to wait more time to heal, but was told there was no additional danger to the baby or me beyond spacing the pregnancies 12 months.

It's easy to parent at 40.

Harder to parent a teenager in your late fifties.....

I disagree. It was easier to parent teenagers in our fifties as we were calmer and more laid back.

Carrying a huge toddler and that in between walking and crawling stage when you’re constantly bend over holding their hands was the hardest for me.

The OP did not ask for your opinion.

How long did it take to get pregnant with this first child?

I waited until DS was 14 months. I was 41 when I got pregnant the second time and a month shy of 40 with my first pregnancy.

I’d wait the two additional months. It isn’t good for babies or mom to have pregnancies that close together.

I was 36.5 with first after trying for 6 years. We started trying for #2 after a 15 months. Got pregnant right away.

I waited 18-20 months after DC1 was born because my career couldn't take a second maternity leave in 2 years. I just knew it would be a career killer and I didn't want to "mommy track." My kids are almost 3 years to the day apart. 38 and 41. I don't feel old either as I have a ton of peer parents that are similar aged.

We had planned on waiting a year, but ended up waiting 18 months due to sleep deprivation and PPA. Took another 2 years to get pregnant again, but I dealt with infertility the first time around, too.
