I purchased latex mattresses from Nest and Sleep EZ (online)

Happy with both:

We got the my green mattress pure echo twin for our toddler. Regular price is $649 but you can get deals (right now they have $100 off). It seems comfy to me.

Depends. There are many different sellers and many different ways to make a child's mattress. It doesn't need to be as thick as an adult mattress.

Cozy Pure had a great product and are good people to work with as well. They are somewhat local (Norfolk) but you can order online as well. We got a new king size mattress during pregnancy and it was well worth it.

Tuft and Needle. They have mattresses of all sizes and they’re amazing. We have six of them in our house and have converted our families and friends.

I was going to suggest IKEA, but for some reason, the cheapest latex mattress (under $500) does not have a twin size.

We got the off the shelf one. It did not smell after a few days. Our latex one was over $2k as there are different kind of latex and the better one is costly.

Brentwood Home. They just started carrying it (although not all the mattresses). Naturepedic and Avocado mattresses are also great. We have one of each and are very happy. We noticed a huge difference between the traditional ones with flame retardants.

Costco for regular. You are not going to get a good latex mattress for that price

And is it possible to get a good non-toxic twin mattress for $500 or less? And one that doesn't smell for weeks out of the bag/box?

We went to urban mattress in Vienna for my older child's mattress, but the sizing is off and it's slightly small for a regular twin-sized bed, so I'm wondering if there are alternatives?
