PP Here - were on day 4 but the Zofran helped to keep things down for two days and it came back last night I guess.

This was the advice we received on the nurses line a couple nights ago except it was 2-3 teaspoons to start with (which I guess 3 tsp is 1 Tbsp so same thing). My daughter couldn’t keep down a teaspoon of water after several tries throughout the day so we ended up at urgent care where the options were IV fluids or Zofran to rehydrate her. Not the PP but in our household, the 2 year old and I puked twice in the middle of the night, and were back to normal in 24 hours. The 5 year old is 2 days in with multiple vomiting episodes, fatigue, general misery. DH has somehow survived thus far.

When I called the ped today about my 5 year old, she said people were reporting that it was lasting up to 5 days. That's really long for a stomach bug

Thanks everyone, appreciate the advice! She seemed better for about an hour but then felt sick again and is currently laying on the wood floor with a bucket next to her! We were just about to start a bit of water but now going to wait a bit longer - Ice chips sound like a good idea, too!

And seriously I had been thanking my lucky stars she never threw up up until this point!!! I am the same, way, though, I’ve only committed once past the age of ~6 that wasn’t due to a hangover - I am still hoping she inherited my strong stomach!!

I’d also wait an hour after vomiting to give liquids. We were told a tsp every 15 min. See if she can keep it down.

If she can’t keep anything down, call your ped.

They recommended my son go to urgent care last night after throwing up 15 times over the course of 6 hours. They can give fluids if need be or also Zofran to stop the puking.

I prefer ice chips to avoid dehydration. You can’t take in but so much liquid at a time, which avoids subsequent vomiting. Popsicles work just as well.

Pedialyte and not Gatorade. My Doctor was very clear that Pedialyte is so much better for you the Gatorade. Saltines, bone broth if you can.

Popsicles are easier than drinking. Get the kind with no chunks of fruit in them (the old school kind). My pediatrician always said to wait 3 hours before pushing fluids after vomiting, but google dehydration and make sure she doesn’t show any signs of it since you say she hasn’t taken in much in the last couple of days. Urgent care centers are open if needed.

Merry Christmas to us . Both my husband and daughter are out for the count! My daughter is 5 and has had a fever the past two days but no stomach issues until this morning when she came downstairs and got sick all over the place when I was letting the dog out. Oddly, This is the first time she’s thrown up so I actually have no idea what to do! I assume no liquids immediately after she’s thrown up but when should I try to get liquids in her so She doesn’t get dehydrated? I am just a bit worried about that since she hadn’t eaten or drank much the previous two days. Any other tips?!?
