Fun fact: Jimmy Stewart enlisted in the Air Corps, became a bomber pilot, served in the reserves after the war, and eventually got promoted to General.

I met him through a mutual acquaintance over dinner in the late 1980s. I found him to be charming, inquisitive, and pleasant to talk with.

He was a supporter the House Un-American Activities, but okay, he was pleasant to you.

That makes me like him even more.

There were commies in the US government and society, and they needed rooting out. They were (and are) as bad as the Nazis.

MLK was a womanizer who regularly cheated on his wife but we have a holiday for him.

I live in LA and just yesterday at the hair salon the older woman sitting next to me told me that she grew up living across the street from Jimmy Stewart ( and next door to Lucille Ball). She told me he was so kind to her and would help her walk her dog when he walked his two Golden Retrievers.

He was apparently a nice man.

OP’s wording was perfectly fine. DCUM just brings out the cranks.

I didn’t know Stewart supported the House Commie Hunt Committee. Ugh.

Yeah, that's disappointing. So is the Bing Crosby stuff.

What does Bing Crosby have to do with the discussion?
