I used to really like them too. I got very tired of sherry constantly talking about minimalism while simultaneously displaying tons of Knick knacks and swipeups to countless target products. They talk about “downsizing” but always have something new to sell (and she is not upfront about the fact that these are affiliate links that they make money off of).
It also really seems like their kids got a raw deal with this move. Having to move during a pandemic to a much smaller house where the bedrooms are tiny, especially one child’s, while the parents have a massive master bedroom (all posted on their blog).
To be fair, they made the decision to move before the pandemic. Once you’re in the middle of selling your house AND you’ve already purchased a new house, it’s very hard to put the brakes on a move. Though as far as the kids go, I actually think the pandemic timing makes it easier. They’re not missing out on school or camps or even able to see their friends in Richmond. The move is exciting and gives them something to do and talk about.
I predict that they stay in this house for 4 years. I bet they move to a bigger house right before their daughter starts high school. The size of this house seems like an over correction for them. They’re into minimalism and downsizing right now, but when their kids are teens I think they’re all going to want more space. Plus, they’re going to want more space to have guests visit in Florida. They have no room to host anyone right now.
