Nope. I’ve been managing cookies for 10 years and that is absolutely not how it works. Maybe that’s how your troop cookie manager does things, but they are in violation of policy.

That is completely bonkers to me that parents and the troop have to front the money. I wonder if your Council isn’t financially sound to handle the payment upfront. That would concern me to have that burden on the troop.

Is it bonkers that Amazon makes you pay before your items are delivered? Our council expects payment upfront, too. We are in Chicago.

I don’t see that at all as the same thing. Troops are part of council and ultimately the council is there to support the girls. And are required to sell those stupid cookies if they want to participate in any other fundraisers.

We’re only doing in person sales to a handful of friends and family so my daughter gets the experience. Everyone else we sent an email too. She’s racked up quite a few donation sales from far away people who want to support her but not bother with shipping cookies. I’m also not allowed to sell at work, so the link is handy to give to a few coworker-friends who know she’s in scouts and want to buy cookies.

If we lived in a different neighborhood it would be different, but where we live it’s hard to go door to door, and we have to split the few neighbors we have with the girl across the street who is in the same troop!

If you are in the Nation's Capital , then you don’t collect money until delivery (and your troop account isn’t charged until later, too). Other councils do it differently.

My daughters really like going in person to their teachers and neighbors to sell, so they do that, but other than that we stick to booths and the online option.

It’s Girl Scout cookie season, always conveniently right before the holidays. In the past we’ve brought the paper order form for family, but for whatever reason, it’s like pulling teeth collecting money from people. You can now order online with a dedicated link, pay there, and DD will deliver. I’m thinking of ONLY doing online sales this year. I was going to print off some cute wallet-size pics of DD and put the link on the back. No pressure. I don’t care if she sells one box or one thousand. But she’s excited to pitch the cookies. Last year we had to front our own cash to pay for the cookies and it was a hassle getting money from people. I think they felt obligated and I don’t want people to feel obligated. This feels less on the spot, and I don’t have to hassle with cash. Thoughts?
