First is likely the worst. One advantage is that as ED/EA there are no/fewer other schools that could have bad news around now.

The big disadvantage we are worried about is how much would a Chicago rejection kill enthusiasm for competitive RD applications.

It was for class of 2023. My friend's kid did it, was rejected and was ultimately admitted to NYU RD.

That’s my point. She knows that yet believes, without a doubt, that she’ll definitely get in. Perhaps just a front to hide her anxiety from me- she does not like to show any weakness. Very insular. Even my husband, who has hardly been engaged in the process at all and can only tolerate headline news, is worried about her mental wellbeing if things do not go her way. Ugh.

To answer the PP who said it may not be over- I think the first shock is the worst, no? At least I hope so.

They defer a lot of ED students asking them to do ED 2 or RD. So it may not be over today. I think being rejected now is better.

OP here. Was fine until this morning. I hope you’re right PPs - that it will be fine- for her sake. I worry because she’s so sure. I think that’s more what’s making me nervous- her certainty. I wish she were more open to the possibility that it may or may not happen. Let it be over already.

3-4 in Chicago is 4-5 in DC. Good luck!

""3-4pm."

In Chicago or here?

I'm sure in Chicago."

Except 3:00-4:00 in Chicago would be 1:00-2:00 pm on the west coast so I doubt it.

I think 5-6 pm in DC is more likely.
