There are commuter buses but the problem is they go from Annapolis to DC in the morning and the reverse in the afternoon. I didn’t find anything that would work.

The commuter buses mostly go to park and ride stops in Annapolis. I'd do zipcar or some other same day rental.

Check directions on google maps and select the public transportation option. I see there is a bus from New Carrollton. The schedules are included. I find that google maps is a really helpful way to figure out public transportation options, including buses, in many cities.

If you had a time machine, you could put them on the Washington, Baltimore, and Annapolis Electric Railway.

Annapolis would not even be in my top 25 list of places to take someone around here - or does someone visiting from elsewhere actually want to go there?

Search the bus tour companies. Some will do do DC and Annapolis, etc. Even NY tourists can get a hop on hop off bus tour that includes DC. Pretty sure there are DC based busses that will go to Annapolis.

Uber from New Carrollton is an option. Or looks like Greyhound has a stop - https://locations.greyhound.com/bus-stations/us/maryland/annapolis/bus-station-190025

I think there’s a commuter bus but it’s more for Annapolis to DC so not sure the timing works. Someone posted it in another thread about travel between DC and Annapolis.

Renting a car for a day might be easier/cheaper than uber.

I’m not able to figure out route 220 schedule. Will need to call them.

There isn't any. Uber would probably be super expensive.
