Subject: s/o anyone here just not like working very much?
I work 25 hours a week and take 2-4 months off a year. Really nice balance. Plenty of time to do what I want to do, but I do nothing most of the time.

Oh, gd, yes. I've tried to get a work life that I find bearable - but I would be such a good spouse to a wealthy person. I could volunteer, garden, do some writing, exercise a lot every day. I like to be a little bit busy and never be told what to do.

Yes. I think I would like working half days, and only two or three days per week.
Then I'd like to spend one full day a week volunteering with dogs. Maybe a full day and a half day.
Then, I like to nap a lot. But I'd like to have one full day a week for culture - museums, movies, shows, reading - all that stuff.

I have a 35 hour work week, and only 15 more years to do it. I’m educated, good at what I do, have a lot of autonomy, and paid a solid salary with great benefits. Nothing to complain about when you think of people working at Walmart or in a factory or on a farm somewhere. What I do isn’t real “work” and I recognize that privilege.

I am home and I am content. I also have economic security in the sense I can live a middle class life style without working. (180K HHI).

Thankfully my workweek is 35 hours, so that’s only 54,600 lifetime hours of wishing I could be somewhere else.

Yes, this is me. I understand why I have to work, but I just don’t want to work. People look at me like I’m nuts when I say this out loud. They say they’d be bored stiff if they didn’t work. I don’t get that mentality. I’d be perfectly content not working. Some days I’d do a lot and some days I’d do not very much, but I would be much happier.

Assuming a 30 year career and a 40 hr workweek, we will spend at least 62,400 hours of our lives doing stuff we hate.

I think most people work because they have to OP. Unless someone has a trust fund...they need to pay for a place, food, healthcare, etc. Work is work, not a party. Maybe try to adjust your thinking otherwise your life will be a long slog.

Most people work for the paycheck, for the benefits, for retirement.
No one likes starting the day knowing that you have to get up, get dressed and go to work. NO. NORMAL. PERSON.

I'm sort of like this. I mean I like my job, but it's not the be all end all that people make work out to be, it's just a job. People here are really competitive about everything. You just have to drown out the noise.

I sometimes feel like an alien because of this in this area where people are all about making work their religion.
I've tried switching career fields thinking that was the problem but now I suspect it is me. I just don't like working that much. Anyone else?
