At home. At the park. Outside of practice, of course.

My kids have been at LMVSC for years, and I do think there have been positive changes. Communication has improved overall, and there seems to be a better energy that promotes LMVSC as a family, not just individual teams.

A few of the new coaches are excellent - the best we have had. The right mix of caring and tough with a love for winning but an emphasis on developing and playing better. Coaches have given evaluations and made a point to meet individually with each player to discuss. Coaches also seem more approachable and friendly.

The directors seem to care more about parent feedback than they ever did before. Less separation of "red/white/blue." There are often directors at the games with the coaches to monitor that everything is happening as it should be.

Of course there are still problems and there will continue to be annoying things, but my kids are loving soccer this season, and I'm happy we didn't switch clubs.

FWIW, from what I have see there is not an “anti” sentiment to any other club, SYC included, amongst the players, parents, coaches — at least in the older age groups. It seems folks just want to play soccer. As it should be.

There seems to be a “we are all one team” approach with the older age group teams as compared to last season. Meaning, the red/white/blue teams work together more and there is less of a “second class citizen” approach to the white (and blue teams if applicable). While many left to join SYC in the older age groups, the families who stayed with LMVSC seem happy with the new coaches.

Texting also updates parents and players when changes happen regarding playing times, field locations, weather, etc. Texting is only one direction: coach/manager to parents/players.

To the new parent that is stating there is better communication and more/better tournaments: how were you able to identify that it's better? Are you coming from a different club or are you new to the area? I am considering to put my two little ones in travel soccer but undecided.

Another LMVSC parent (new this year).

Much better communication when compared to prior clubs (e.g. BRYC).

More and better tournaments.

Less emphasis on won/loss record.

Training different in that it now includes watching film.

Development no different and could be better.

Overall happy with LMVSC.

LMVSC parent here. Hasnt changed much. Some new coaches with different coaching styles etc. There seems to be a bit more structure with the training programs/plans and communication. The academy/PEP/PAT whatever training is still terrible but apparently the club is seeking feedback to improve it. Field space remains tight but that really hasn't changed.

From an outsider to SYC I will admit they have upped their Social Media game and seem to be offering additional opportunities from training (Winter break camps etc). Cant comment on training staff etc. Curious to hear how the teams that were impacted panned out with the incoming LMVSC players. Otherwise I think the LMVSC vs SYC is pretty much over with.

So, as we're at the half way point in the soccer year, I'm interested to see how people think it's going? Any real changes?
