This drives me crazy about my DH too- just dry off while standing on the bath mat in our very small bathroom- no need to get the entire (small) bathroom floor wet.

This is what I do too. Nice and warm in the shower to dry off, why step out and be chilly while I'm drying off?

This would be a good solution but it’s not just his feet that are wet. His whole body is dripping water. I guess I could wear the slippers to avoid my feet/socks getting wet but it just seems like one of those things that is so easy to avoid by just drying off in the bathroom. It’s not like it saves him time to dry off outside of the bathroom rather than in the bathroom.

He told me that me leaving dishes in the sink to soak rather than washing them off and putting them right into the dishwasher annoyed him so I stopped doing it. It took a little time to make the adjustment but I did it. This is more of a pattern for him—he decides it’s just my issue so he shouldn’t have to change to accommodate. He does the same thing with his snoring. He refuses to go to a doctor or try an over the counter remedy or go to another room. He says the snoring doesn’t bother him so if it bothers me I should sleep in another room or wear ear plugs. So even though this is about a wet carpet it’s not really just about a wet carpet. -OP

He's probably not stopping because he's cheating on you. Start digging deeper into his other activities.

omg, my 14 year old does this and I cannot stand it, so it creeps into adulthood too

Replace the carpet. Install wood floors.

Wear hard soled bedroom slippers instead of socks. You’re looking for a fight over something incredibly stupid and nitpicky.

I know this is relatively low level issue. But it’s driving me nuts. I’ve asked DH multiple times to stop doing this but he doesn’t stop doing it.

DH takes a shower, then gets out and puts a towel around himself and walks out of the bathroom into our carpeted bedroom. He drips water as he goes and the carpet gets wet. I can’t stand stepping on wet carpet. It’s especially annoying when I’m getting ready for the day and step on the wet carpet with socks and then have to change my socks.

This would be a non issue if DH would take 2 minutes to dry off with the towel in the bathroom instead of in the bedroom.

Is there no hope for changing this behavior? Do I just need to be ok with stepping on wet carpet in unexpected places? It’s predictable that it will be wet route outside of the bathroom but sometimes the hallway carpet is unexpectedly wet because he goes to another room to get something before he dries off.

I’m trying to live with it but every time it happens my blood boils. I feel like he should just be courteous and dry off in the bathroom and he thinks I’m being ridiculous for caring.
