$1000 per person? We have a building staff of 20, more than half of whom are listed as door/concierge. We are definitely outliers in that we don’t “tier” our gifts. We give a flat $125 (we rent, so more if we are in the building for multiple years, or $75 if we are in for a half-year or less) per person - so every person gets the same amount. It’s 1/3 of rent for a month. Among renters with similar building staffs, we give, in total, more, though most of them give around $150 to the highest “tier” and $25/30 to porters. We are not rich, obviously. Ha!

My family usually does $100 for the general pot and $50 to an individual doorman if they went above and beyond for you that year e.g. held mail for months while we were away or paid careful attention to our grandma. We live in midtown east in the 50s FYI

How much do you do in cash? Or do you do something else? Thanks.
