Yes, DCU academy spring formal tryouts are not free. You have to pay to participate.

DCU academy might be only DA club (mls or non-mls DA) that charge a fee for tryouts, right??

That is what these are.

These are like pre tryouts. If you are Messi Jr then yea, maybe they’ll bring you up right away. But for most kids this is a chance to get your name in front of the coaches so they can watch you in the formal tryout.

Right now you’d have to be in the top 5-10 kids vs the existing team to get a call up. They won’t sub out player 15 for a kid who is just as good as player 15 at this point. But in the formal Spring tryout all (Most) spots are basically open.

my son plays for one of non-mls DA clubs, it is $3100 a year.

This are basically ID sessions. Your kid will not get an offer to join the DA after this. it's not a yes/no tryout kind of thing. It's a chance for them to start to put a face together with a name as they move forward over the next few months. If they like you they may ask you to come to a practice in the future and play with the DA players just to get an idea.

DC United does not have a U13 or U12 team so 2008s would be trying for the 2007 U14 team next year.

At the moment no one is sure about where DCU will be training in the future.

If you want a chance with DC United in the future I'd recommend going to this rather than a run of the mill futsal game.

They don't have U13 2007 team but there are a few 07s playing up in U14 2006 DCU academy team

If you would accept an offer from DC United then you skip futsal.

Do they have a lot of 7th graders on the team?

I believe Arlington and Loudoun are two of them.

It says this is a primary player-identification and assessment opportunities for local talent interested in joining D.C. United Academy or one of their affiliated clubs.

Anyone has any experience with it? Do they normally have a high turn-out for this kind of event? My boy (2007) is scheduled to play in futsal tournament on that day, not sure if we should skip his futsal game for the DCU academy ID session.
