It’s not a glitch. The human driver is an idiot and deservingly got cited for reckless driving and reckless endangerment. I drive a Tesla and if you take your hands off the steering wheel for longer than a minute or two while on autopilot, the car will warn you to put your hands back on the steering wheel.

If you do not, autopilot will turn itself off. Anyway, the human has to pay attention and be ready to take over driving at any time.

Sounds like software development has not changed since OS/360. Are there Tesla SHARE/GUIDE groups submitting code and writing white papers?

1. The driver is supposed to be able to take over if something goes wrong.
2. Every single time a Tesla has an accident, they can patch all cars and every single Tesla in the world will learn from this and not repeat it. When a human drives into a cop car (and this happens a lot), only that one human learns from it. This is why sled driving automobiles are so powerful and are already less accident prone than humans.

As the cars learn from mistakes, you can be sure that the accident rates go down.

By the way, is 'cruise control' safe? I use it on lightly-trafficked stretches of I91 to avoid getting a speeding ticket, but if I doze off there would be a disaster.
