She'll be learning about this in 3rd grade too but at a deeper level. I think it is a spiral down approach, but it means that in the end not much is covered. I'm all for something new.

I feel like a fool thinking DCPS would improve in a few years. The worst part is that I don’t any of this will help underprivileged kids. You need structure and high standards coupled with lots of support such as small classes and after-school tutoring. How will these kids survive in college and in the workforce when there are no consequences for discipline infractions or truancy

Perfectly fine to tax our over funded PTA at 10% in favor of less well off schools. Also stop them from hiring staff.
