If you don't trust that this daycare is keeping your children safe, you should look for a different daycare. If you feel confident this was an aberration on a bad day (maybe too many people called in sick on the same day), then that's another thing, but it doesn't sound like that's what you think. Maybe speaking with the director would help you to understand which of those things is what is going on. But I wouldn't count on it to change their behavior if that is what you are trying to do.

Is this an in-home or a center? By unauthorized, do you mean they missed the most recent background check deadline or they weren't an actual employee at all?

Also, none of the daycares we looked at--in home or center--did drop-in older siblings because their activities/structure were really for much younger kids. A child needs to be enrolled (with all paperwork and immunizations) to go there.
