Correct. I had a 36 seeker that spent s couple days in NICU and it was fine. Agree you wouldn’t want to go to sibley if you’re high risk but if not, I don’t see why you wouldn’t. PP. it’s about calculated risk. It’s not practical to take the most risk avoidant approach in every aspect of your life. Don’t you drive a car?

Sibley schedules a limited number of inductions per day, so the slots can fill up and the OB’s can be competitive to get their patients scheduled. My OB practice asked me to schedule an induction in case I went past 41 weeks. Since I was hoping for a natural birth, I scheduled my induction for 41 weeks +6 days. Had a good experience with a natural birth at 39 weeks so never needed that induction slot. The delivery nurses were chatting loudly when I was in transition and my doula yelled at them to be quiet so I could focus. Otherwise, we had a great experience with all the staff and great postpartum care. Check-in and triage were very smooth and we were moved from a private triage room to our L&D suite pretty quickly.

Bloom is about 15/20 min from Columbia Heights.

I gave birth at Sibley and it was a great experience minus the woman screaming while doing the natural birth thing for 8 hours. That said, I would NEVER again. They aren't prepared for anything going wrong. Fairfax INOVA or GW is the best bet.

That is false. It’s not the hospital that would make that decision anyway. Your OB may advise that you schedule an induction for a variety of reasons, including age, but a hospital can’t force you to have an induction. I’ve delivered at Sibley 3 times, including this year.

Delivered in June for second time at sibley, no real complaints, it’s plush and quiet and private and I love it. Food service is decent although slow. Smoothie bar downstairs charges $10+ for fancy smoothies. It’s not easy to get to without a car. They have tablets you can watch movies on in addition to the th which is nice and can also access your chart on.

I would assume induction is an OB specific practice. Mine let me schedule induction starting at 39 weeks but would let you go 10 days over. I delivered at 37 weeks so that wasn’t a factor.

I think most of the patients get epidurals or pain relief so if you come at the same time as a bunch of laboring moms you might have to wait lol. I got there just ahead of 3 others and by the time the anesthesiologist was in my room the nurses were searching for him as many other rooms had also requested.

I had a scheduled c-section (breech) there in July and I was so impressed with everything. I have Kaiser as well, so I didn't know the OB before she came to introduce herself while I was getting prepped, and she was absolutely wonderful. I felt very cared for, the hospital is kept sparkly clean, and the nurses post-op were very kind and attentive. Highly recommend Sibley! (My first delivery was at WHC with the midwives, who I totally loved, but I didn't love the hospital as it felt overall rather unsanitary).

I delivered at Sibley in March. I was not required to register for induction at my due date. I have Kaiser, and they don't require induction until I think a week after the due date or something like that. That requirement sounds like something an OB practice might require, not the hospital.
