I sell my used clothes so they'd probably be really pissed at me. The people that buy them though seem way more needy than my cousins though.

OP, good Lord! Do you really need to post this? It’s so ridiculous. And to the dummy who said they give their clothes to kids that don’t stain them so they could get them back! No kid should have to be careful so they can give the clothes back to you. Only on DCUM! Once I had a friend that offered to lend my daughter clothes and then wanted them back — no thank you! Keep them. I can’t believe some of you want the clothes to look good on the third child wearing them!! Make it stop.

Ignore the email. Or be honest and say "Sorry, we don't have anything to pass on - everything we have is spoken for"

Just ignore them. Or if they keep pushing you can say "Sorry, but most of our kids' clothes are from the neighbors who have a younger kid too and we are giving them back!"

"Aunt Jane, why are you sending these emails? If Lanie or Jim want our clothing, they may ask for themselves."

So weird that she even asks. Hand me downs are never asked for - if someone gives, that's wonderful. But asking for them is just tacky!

I'm the same. I save really nice stuff for good friends, preschool teacher who is pregnant, etc

This is not a normal way to feel about kids clothes or cousins, but especially kids clothes.

"Sorry, I don't have anything for you."
"Sorry, we trade off hand-me-downs with Kim and Chris's kids."
"Sorry, we're not friends and I don't really like you."

Any of these would work. I don't pass our kids' clothes down to their cousins, either. My sister and I have stair step kids too, and everything she's ever given us is stained and trashed. I have friends who will treat the clothes better and sometimes pass them back to us if they can be worn again.

Just tell her the truth. "Sorry Aunt Larla, our neighbors kids/kids BFFs are just a size smaller and we have an agreement that we hadn't our kids' clothes down to them."

Just ignore the email then.

First cousins are (a phrase borrowed from Reddit) choosing beggars - they are upper middle class but make make lots of bad financial choices and expect us to pass on our high quality hand me downs. We are not close, we are not even friends. But their mom occasionally sends me emails asking if I have “cleaned out the closet lately?” But, we have very close friends who are stair steps below our kids in age and gender, so we give them our hand me downs.
These kids are more like cousins than their actual cousins.
Just wanted to get that out there.
