Kids who believe in Santa and don't believe in Santa have coexisted for over a century. Your kids will believe what you tell them to believe and you can lie your way out of a kid challenging them.

It isn't up to everyone else to reinforce your beliefs just like I don't expect you to reinforce our beliefs.

I tell my kids to respect other people's beliefs but not to deny their own to protect others. They know some kids think Santa is real and that is an important belief in their families and to not say anything but if someone asks them outright if they think Santa is real they will say no.

You can only control yourself so focus on yourself and what you can do - not other people. Start making plans on what YOU will say to your kid if someone says that to your kid. Something akin to whatever you say about all the different Santa’s at the mall or whatever works.

This is a perfect time to teach your child about belief, and faith, Religion, and a whole bunch of other things. Not everyone believes or feels the same way as you do. We respect what other people feel, as they are not us, and live their life in a different way. Holiday traditions are very important to families. Here is what we do: x , y, z, even though we don’t have Santa visit.

I don’t know how old your kids are, but even if you tell kids not to say anything, impulse control isn’t that well developed in the young crowd.

Please instruct grown-ups to stop telling us how gross blood sausage is in front of my kids.
