I rarely wear makeup, and it works because my husband doesn’t like makeup. However, he does love a certain perfume and I wear that on special occasions even though I don’t love it. And if he did like makeup I’d probably wear it more often. Not because he asked but because I like making him happy.

I never wear makeup and never have. I had a BF after my divorce, in my 40s, who said he thought I should try wearing makeup. I did try it but did not like it at all.
Turned out that was just one of the ways he wanted to change me to be more like his idea of the type of woman he wanted. The relationship ultimately did not work out.

I wear very light make-up because I like it. But I will wear certain clothes that I know he really likes even if they are not my favorite because it’s nice to get a compliment.

He wants me to wear it all the time because he likes women wearing makeup.

Great, so that's a nice compromise. One of the things that he probably found attractive in you as compared to his ex is a more natural, low maintenance look.
Why don't you ask him?
I know he doesn’t particularly like makeup. He’s very unhappy that my adult DD wears full face most of the time and was really unhappy when younger DD started experimenting with lipstick.

Yeah, i do stuff that appeals to my DH as he does for me. Like recently he suggested it'd be nice if i wore a light perfume. I don't wear any to work, but after i shower in the evenings to hang out with DH, i now always put a spritz on. He notices, and has said he appreciates it. If he suggested a bit more make up, i'd indulge.

So, DH is from Deep South where very few women go without any makeup. His first wife is very much the type to put lots of time, money, and effort into primp and polish. I am not. He has never complained about my no makeup habit and has never asked me to do makeup. He does like me to wear my hair down/out. He likes high heels. I indulge him in those.
