I've been using tretinoin for about a year and a half, and I absolutely love it. I recommend that you start with the .0025 percent, the lowest percent, instead of the .005 percent. Its very potent and your skin will need time to adjust. I think this is especially true if you plan to start now, in the winter months when your skin will be more dry anyway. Tretinoin takes a LONG time to start working - I didn't really start seeing results until I had been using it everyday for about a year. A lot of people experience a ton of irritation when they first using it; its important to start slowly so you can give your skin the best chance to adjust, so you can work it into your regular skin care routine for the long term. I plan on using it everyday for the rest of my life.

Retinaldehyde alternating days with glycolic serum alternating days is working beautifully for me. Each individual's skin is different but one should use whatever works. Not everyone is suited for retinaldehyde, some not even the weaker retinol. Go with what works.

I'm not that poster but tretinoin is the only clinical proven ingredient that actually works.

Retinaldehyde works for me. I haven't been in a clinical study though so I guess there's no way for PP to know.

Once a week seems a little weak. You only need a very small dab, like half a pea, to cover your face. The thing is that if you never used prescription strength tretinoin, your skin will most likely take a hit when you start - redness, peeling, you name it. you just have to go through it and wait it out. If you are doing it once a week, it seems to me you're delaying the inevitable.
