Go with Janney if you can afford the neighborhood. We are so pleased with the school, and congratulate ourselves now and then that we had the good luck and timing (DH would say acumen) to buy in AU Park six years ago. Janney is awesome - Go Jaguars!

Hardy. Eaton has the lowest test scores of the four. It also has the lowest percentage of neighborhood children who attend the school. The crazy is that DCPS seems to like it that way because they want to make Eaton’s enrollment larger, despite Eaton having a lower in-boundary take up rate than any other elementary school in Upper Northwest Washington.

Why the use of “vs.” OP?

It would’ve been just as easy to type “murch, ianney and lafayette” or “murch, janney, lafayette - info please!”

I'm a Lafayette family and if I was doing it again, I'd move to Hearst. Lafayette is just too big.

I'd do a google map scan of the businesses, etc you see in the different neighborhoods to see if any of them seem like they offer more of what you're looking for. e.g, there is now a Target and a whole foods right around the corner from Janney. the main strip of CT Ave in Lafayette's zone has a handful of restaurants, a very small Safeway grocery store and an assortment of other shops (UPS, kids shoe store, nail salon, etc), independent movie theater, etc. Janney and Murch are much closer to the metro stops

Murch parent here. If your child is bright and self-motivated, doesn't have a learning disability, any one of those would be fine. If you have a child that requires extra help, will have an IEP, I would choose somewhere else.

Moving family to upper NW from overseas & trying to understand pros/cons of these three schools and neighborhoods that surround them.
