Gonzaga is all boys, in the city and has a soup kitchen on campus.

Both lax teams are excellent/hard to make.

Academics are the same.

Prep guy here. Academics are NOT the same. GZ is far superior. It’s like comparing Bullis with Prep.

They are very different schools. OP, next year your son needs to shadow at each school and let that be the determinant.

On the face of it, other than urban vs. suburban campus and coed vs. all-boy, they are pretty much the same.

Those seem like significant differences.

Gonzaga is a very unique place, all boys, more hard nosed and strict, but is located in a place that's about as difficult as it gets to reach if you live in the burbs.

It is a block from a metro stop. Really not hard.

Well what are the DC and Maryland kids going to do next year when they are in Loudoun? Commute?

Kids from outside the area live with host families. (common in sports)

Agree with the post but it should be noted that Gonzaga's lacrosse team is of a slightly higher tier. Parents need to be realistic about just how good DS is at lax if he hopes to play at GZ. Last year, according to Maxpreps.com they were ranked 17th in the nation and that was a pretty average year for them. PVI was 130th ranked. Still pretty good but just not quite the same level. Unless your kid is playing very high level club lax in middle school the chances are quite low that he will be at the level to play any meaningful minutes at GZ if he even makes the team (or schools like Prep, Landon and Bullis). They are all nationally ranked powerhouses at that sport.

I think where you live in Fairfax is a factor also.

Thinking about Paul VI and Gonzaga for DS high school in two years.

We live in Fairfax County so there will be a commute involved in either one.

Comparing them on www.niche.com they seem almost identical academically.

DS really likes sports, especially lacrosse.

Thoughts about choosing between them?
