This much smell is not food related. Stop grooming him yourself. If you can't afford grooming for a Shi-Tzu, rehome him. This isn't fair to the dog. Don't adopt a dog whose needs you can't meet. Very basic.

Which do you recommend that will give me a less smellier doggie?

What brands of pet food or type of flavor of food (ie chicken) tend to make dogs smelly?

If it's the day after his bath, it's because his skin has not properly dried under his hair, which can lead to skin problems and perhaps a continuation of the smell.
My Samoyed has a very thick double coat and I bathe and dry him myself. Bathing takes an hour, but DRYING takes several hours to avoid this very problem. I towel dry then blow-dry with a dog hair dryer (doesn't heat as much as a human hair dryer, very important), then let him rest and repeat the blow-drying to make sure his skin is dry. I time it during a dry spell otherwise the ambient humidity works against me.

You need to take him to the vet - could be a skin problem, could be anal glands, could need a teeth cleaning. Also, that type of dog needs to be groomed regularly, so you should make it priority to get him to the groomers on a semi-regular basis.

My shitzue stinks all the time, or at least the day after his bath. I hate giving him a bath, and it's hard to take him to the groomers financially. My couch stikns, my carpet stinks. Should I change his diet? bath him every week? Spray him? Ugh...
