Are you targeting DA or ECNL? Just kidding, look at your local rec league, they start as early as 3 years old and lil kickers starts even earlier. More focused on fun and games with the ball than truly soccer.

Organized soccer at that age would not be developmentally appropriate (although I am certain. you could find someone willing to take your money for a class). Just let them kick the ball - it is called independant play and is a great thing!

OP while i generally agree with what others have said, take your little one anywhere to just run, kick throw - no need to spend $$ on class. To my recollection the youngest ages some programs start are 2 (you can look at Fairfax County partakes for British International Soccer, that program goes as young as 2). When your kid hits 3 you'll have more options.

Why on earth would you be looking for an indoor program during Spring/Summer?

Btw, OP doesn't have a soccer talent/program problem, OP has a space problem. Should be asking about indoor places during winter where DC can run and kick a ball around.

My daughter loved 'playing soccer' with us outside - kicking the ball and pretending to be a soccer player. She even wore some shorts that she claimed were 'soccer shorts' and insisted on wearing her socks up to her knees.

So, when she turned 3 this summer (the earliest age for soccer class in our area) we signed he up right away.

She hated it. She hated the forced class time, the waiting around, the structure. It was only 6 classes, but we never 'played soccer' for the rest of the summer. She stopped wearing her 'soccer shorts' and her socks are folded down like everyone else. It just wasn't a much fun for her as we had hoped.

I really wish we would have just continued having fun as a family instead of doing a class, at least for now (I'm sure things will be different in a few years.)

My advice: have fun now. Don't spoil it with classes!

I don't think a formal soccer program makes sense, but some open gym time with different kinds of balls to kick and throw might be very fun for him.

My kids' daycare starts taking kids to the gym a few times a week at 18 months for free play with all different kinds of balls, nets, mats, and other stuff.

Ummmm, for that age please just stop.

Just let the kid kick the ball around the condo. There is no way to organize 17 month olds.

I noticed that my 17-month old loves running around and kicking a ball. We live in a condo so I’m always looking for stuff to get him moving outside of the house.

Are there any indoor soccer programs in close in NoVa that start at 18 months? If not where should I look for something in the spring/summer?
