Subject: Re:Donated embryos and telling children
We used donor eggs not embryos. We started talking to them about it as it came up naturally as we were explaining where babies come from. We have never used the language and terminology of adoption as it didn’t seem to be applicable. There are no other parents and the child wouldn’t exist apart from our explicit decision to create them inside a womb. It is still something to be open about, but you do want to use the most helpful language for the actual situation. My kids definitely do not consider themselves adopted.

Talking about it as a donor situation will be more relevant, I think. It is different than adopting a child after they’re born. Amazon had kids books and there r counselors who can help you plan, too.

Has anyone gotten pregnant with donated embryos? Did you tell the children from day 1 they were adopted? Hoping to go this route and trying to get in my mind how to deal.
