depends - i actually think West Elm quality is hit or miss, but MUCH more of a risk than crate & barrel. that said, the furniture we have ordered from room and board has held up better than most of the C&B stuff. i think most (maybe all?) R&B furniture is made in the US, where with C&B some is US and some is from China.

We've had our C&B Lounge II for 3 years and it still looks great. Super comfy.

West elm furniture is literal trash.

There is a reason West Elm doesn’t have reviews— it is terrible quality. When we bought the lounge I confirmed it was bench made in America with hand tied springs. Basically all you can ask for in a couch, assuming all that is still true

We have a West Elm sectional. It feels cheap'ish, but better quality than Ikea. My wife says we will keep it until the kid is old enough to no longer destroy furniture.

We got it on massive discount for like $2K. It's a big sectional couch. It's comfortable and I frequently fall asleep on it. The back cushions are made with some sort of cheap filler than gets lumpy; we need to rotate the cushions at least 1x per week.

So yes, I agree with others that it looks great online but the quality is lacking. C&B is a noticeably higher build quality. Still, it's a good couch for those early kid years when they are spilling/barfing/peeing/pooping on your couch. And you can get a lot of couch for your money, imho.

I bought a West Elm sectional last year and totally regret it. It looked great online but it is not comfortable. The back cushions sag down and won't stay up. I'm going to stick it in my basement and get a Crate and Barrel axis 2

We have these and they are wonderful couches. In general, C&B will be better quality than West Elm. I like West Elm for decor and ideas, but not for “real” furniture that is going to get daily use.

Some of C&B upholstery is made by Lee Industries, one of the best companies in the country. It will last.

West Elm is temporary furniture.

West Elm looks great online - not so much in person.

Go see it in store. You can tell that c&b is a bit more sturdy. We just got the Dawson bed, dresser, and nightstand from c&b and it's all quite sturdy.

It may be a higher price point than you were thinking, but we just got this couch and it is amazing quality https://www.roomandboard.com/m/catalog/living/sofas-with-chaise/andre-sofa-with-reversible-chaise

We bought a West elm couch a few months earlier and it is definitely not as high of quality

West Elm is a step up from Ikea, but not necessarily in quality. I'd buy an Ikea couch over West Elm. If I were buying laminate furniture, I'd also choose Ikea over West Elm.

C&B is a noticeable step up in quality and durability. West Elm is meant to be cheaper for a reason. It will wear out more quickly.

Any experiences?

We are trying to decide between the CB Lounge II and the West Elm Harris sectional.

Also happy to hear any other sectional recommendations. This will be an everyday couch so we want durability.
