YES, I feel it in my calves and behind my ankles all the time.

Sorry my last message didn't make any sense. I have supportive shoes (I think) the Nike reacts. They offer support better than a lot of others I've had. I know propet is a good brand too. I'll cave and pick some up

Go to Mobility Mastery on YouTube and watch some of her videos. She has saved my life in terms of aches and pains.

Consider doing some easy stretches - roll a tennis ball under your foot, for starters.

Are you walking on a treadmill, outside, rubber track? Do you have a good arch support in your shoe?

Sounds like a shoe issue. Get fitted at a running store where they let you test on a treadmill. Different brands work for different people.

If you are very overweight, moving is great but to lose the weight you really need to focus on diet. Not saying not to move, i think the suggestion of an stationary bike is great as is swimming, but at the end of the day dietary changes will give you more bang for the buck

Until you figure out the walking, you can try swimming, this should not put any stress on the bones. All fitness clubs have very cheap membership like 20 bucks a month and you can sing up and use the swimming pool only. It is good deal and you don't need to be limited to swim centers that are few and farinbetween.

All the above are good suggestions, I would throw in shoes. You might want to get a brand new shoes that are not molded by the past weight. They might have lost any cushioning and that might be bad for your ankles. You could either get some very comfy walking shoes or if you can't at least buy some inserts of a sort a memory foam or gel or something. Maybe others know some specific brands.

Walking shoes if you are overweight - should have TON of cushion. Look for thick bottoms. The thin running shoes can not support well and transfer all the shocks from the hitting the sidewalk into your skeletal system.

The most likes cause is your weight is too much stress for your joints and muscles. Best to see your GP first to rule out a blood clot or something else. Try a stationary bike, an elliptical machine, or a rowing machine. Those are gentle on your joints.

Work on a super strict diet so you can get some weight off and begin moving more without the pain. Keep at it, it is great you are doing something.

Another question is whether something in your diet is bothering you.

Well that is concerning but you're doing the right thing by trying to get moving. I'm not sure what Mike's issue is, but I wouldn't worry about it.

It's not after but during something as simple as walking. It makes me nervous and discouraged to do anything physical

This sound extreme. I’d see someone. Maybe start with a podiatrist .

See your regular GP first. Being sore after exercise is normal. But excruciating pain is never, ever normal.

Just walking 5-30 minutes and my calves are in excruciating pain and it feels like my ankles are going to snap. It's so uncomfortable. Not even sure who to see, a podiatrist, sports medicine Dr? Who knows. I'm very overweight but I'm trying to move more. Anyone had to deal with this?
