The governors race will be interesting. Hogan won because he wasn't a horrible fool and he was focused on MD. If the MD RNC runs a moderate candidate with a strong history in MD against a far left progressive they will win. If they run a far right Trumper against anyone they will lose. If they run a conservative never Trumper against a far left progressive they'll probably win. If the run a moderate R against a moderate D its on the fence.

Is Marc Elrich considering running for senate?

It’s what Maryland Republicans USED to be - Mac/Gilbert/Newt/Connie/Howie.

Good grief, why?

Truth hurts MAGA lover

MAGA nothing. Why do Republicans need Larry Hogan, of all people? What's he done that's so great from a Republican perspective, besides beat two Democratic candidates who were terrible candidates? Robert Ehrlich beat one Democratic candidate who was a terrible candidate, but nobody's mentioning him as the future of the Republican party. Other than that, Hogan's major accomplishments seem to be:

1. picking fights with the majority in the General Assembly
2. picking fights with the state's population centers and their elected leaders
3. claiming to want to fight climate change while initiating new projects to worsen it
4. not canceling the Purple Line

Whoopee?

I like Hogan and would vote for him, but I have a hard time envisioning him winning either race. While he was elected governor, I think there are two many people who wouldn't vote for a R in a Senate race. And I just can't see him getting through an R primary.

The only possible way I could see him having a chance is if Warren wins and tries to move things very far to the left. Then, maybe there would be more Marylanders who would be willing to consider a moderate R as a counterweight, particularly if the D candidate is very left.

Larry Hogan is purported to be actively considering either a run for U.S. Senate in 2022 or a Presidential run in 2024.
