Look him in the eye, smile, and say something brief but friendly, like "oh the Nats broke my heart" (if he is wearing Nationals gear}, or "this is my first time here, do you know where the eggs are?".

If he reciprocates with a friendly response, then you can take it one step further by extending your hand and introducing yourself, "hi, I'm Mary, I'm also a Nats fan, it's a pleasure to meet you", or "hi, I'm Mary, thanks for helping me find the eggs."

After that, the ball is his court.

I ran into grocery store during lunch and saw a very handsome guy. It looked like he was on lunch break as well. We passed each other a couple of times while shopping, and definitely checked each other out. I paid for my stuff and hang out by registers waiting for my coworker to finish her shopping. I saw him leaving out and we made eye contact and I smiled. This has happened before where I am interested and think they may be interested but can't figure out a way how to approach. Any tips?
