I live in San Francisco and don't have a car. Yesterday I walked 4.3 miles. Today I walked 3.2.

I haven't rented a car in years. I do a combo of walking and using mass transit most every day.

81 walk score. I walk or take the bus to transit daily. Drive would be equal or shorter, but you would have to put a gun to my head to get me to commute in DC in a car. Ugh.

If you lived a ten-minute walk from a Metro station, you'd drive everywhere except to work?

Our score is 92 and we don't drive much. But that's a function of living right by a metro station close in to downtown. If I lived further out and, say, half a mile from the metro station, I'd take metro to work but not to anything else.

We live in SW and take transit to work and Lyft going into the city on weekends when metro is slow, but do use our car pretty frequently on weekends for grocery shopping, hardware store trips, taking the pets to the vet, visiting friends in the suburbs, etc.

I'm at an 84 walk score, and we used to take the bus every day, but since having a kid we drive in together. It's just easier with daycare drop off, which is by our offices. If there was a more direct bus route, I could take a stroller on the bus, or Metro elevators were more reliable, I would consider going back to public transit. Once she's in school I think we'll go back to the bus.

Walk 90% of time. We don't own a car, live downtown, and everything closer than a 30 min walk we always walk, no matter the weather. Often will walk up to 45-50 mins. Cheap, great source of exercise (I would for sure be overweight if I wasn't constantly walking) and best for the environment, so it's a no brainer, even if it takes a bit more time. Metro/bus maybe 9% of the time? For everything outside of walking range. Cabs maybe 1% of the time - we really try hard to avoid them for budget and exercise reasons. Generally only if it's an emergency/super rush situation.

That's for daily use. For traveling to other places, we use a mix. Baltimore - usually the Marc train, NYC - Amtrak, flying when things are further. We rent a car probably four times a year to see people/activities out in the further out 'burbs (we both have some family out there) where public transit isn't practical.

I always commute on foot and public transit. I hate the stress and unpredictability of DC traffic.

I have a walk score of 80. But I commute by car because I commute with my spouse and it's cheaper than by metro.

I walk/Metro every workday. Likely takes me longer than driving but I have no desire to sit in stop and go traffic twice a day and have to pay for parking. My employer provides me with transit benefits.

We live downtown DC and don't own a car.

95% of the time we catch the city bus to school, 5% of the time it's lyft if we're running late, unusually bad weather, etc.

When I worked downtown I walked the 15 blocks every time, there and back even 9 months pregnant. Now I work farther away and take metro and/or bus.

We walk everywhere and love it, but do rent cars if needed for travel now & then. Extra time on public trans doesn't bother me - I do grocery shopping, work, or read.

Where in the city are you that your walk score is 70?
I live in a neighborhood where it's closer to 90 and I almost never drive within the city. I walk or bus 90% of the time, metro 5%, lyft 5%.
