Youth Mental Health First Aid. YMHFA is an evidence-based program that teaches participants the risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges common among adolescents, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, eating disorders, AD/HD, disruptive behavior disorders, and substance use disorder. Participants learn to support a youth developing signs and symptoms of a mental illness or in an emotional crisis by applying a core five-step action plan

Participants must attend BOTH sessions (8 hours total) to receive the YMHFA certification and training manual. Space is limited to 30 participants. RSVP is required for this course.

The trainings will be provided by Kristen Frese Marsico, M.A., a doctoral candidate in school psychology at the University of Maryland. The trainings are open to all parents in the area who have a child between the ages of 6 and 18, regardless of what school they attend.
