As a parent, I'd definitely want to be told.

Why not say something to the nanny? If the parents don’t require a helmet, she can tell you, but you don’t have to worry about offending a parent who may not use a helmet and find your comment off-putting. If the kid is supposed to be wearing a helmet, the nanny will realize people have noticed the kid isn’t wearing it and might say something to her employer if she doesn’t start enforcing the rule. Then, if you see it again, you say something to the parents.

So then you wouldn’t mind if someone told you they saw him riding without a helmet. I assume this is something you’re proud of.

Regardless, it’s information for the parent to decide what to do with.

I thought this was going to be riding around the cul de sac or something and was prepared to say myob. But to school def tell them. That's gotta include some fairly high traffic locales

So where is the good you are trying to do?

Because all the trouble in the world is worth defending kids.

It doesn’t happen all the time but it has slipped my mind a few times and then I can’t believe I didn’t notice.

Then you're not doing it right. No helmet, no bike. Period.

Yes. It could be that the parents are clueless themselves, but safety concerns, especially ones about kids, are never areas where you can MYOB.

My kid is friends with this other kindergartener. I am friendly with the parents but we're not friends. Should I tell them that I saw their kid riding a bike to school without a helmet? The nanny was walking/jogging along the kid. On one hand, I'm inclined to let it go. On the other hand, I would have a helmet rule for my kid and I'm sure they do too.
