why is it a big deal to opt not to play for the high school? I feel like kids should get to decide?

DA teams are the only ones who can't play for the high schools (they can play other sports- just not soccer).

For every club that rents a nice school field there are two others making do in the corner of some grass park.

Prioritization preference.

What's your point? The bottom line is that the club that is wiling to pay gets to use the field and the county owns the field, not the athletic program at that particular field.

Are they all nonprofits? Some act like one but really aren’t ...

I know some DA teams train on public recreation facilities, but there are others that use school fields for their practices. Any thoughts?

Those clubs pay for the use of those fields. Move on stupid.

High School is a nice social outlet for soccer stop trying to engineer a way to drive club kids to play in a otherwise poor product.

What is an example of a soccer club that forbids kids from playing on their HS teams? If you are talking about DA teams, that is not a club rule, it's a US Soccer rule, and of course virtually all clubs with DA teams have non-DA teams as well, and the kids on those teams play HS ball assuming they make their HS team.

Clubs pay to use those fields, they are not given access for free.

Don't the clubs pay for that field access?

DA teams are usually part of larger clubs with other high school age teams where kids can play for their school team. So do you just make it for the DA teams? How do you handle the funding that those clubs provide to use those fields? It sounds petty to me and if a club has negotiated and paid for the right to use a school field does it matter if it's their DA team or their U16 team or their U10 team?
