Another option is to put in a higher age group.

Unfortunately, at that age, there aren’t Select or Travel Soccer.

If you really want to, put your DC in various clinics to work on his first touch and dribbling skills. Or even look for a private coach. But I wold suggest let him play in Rec for several years and have him have fun. I think it’s still way too early for him.

We are in VA not MD but any large soccer club with a rec and travel side will have opportunities for rec kids who want "more"--early talent ID programs, all stars, academies, etc. Go with whatever is most convenient to your house.

He’s six. Do you realize how much kids change from 6 to 10?? Let him be a kid and have fun. Good luck with the “progression”.

Md fusion is great. Big clubs are money grab.

In younger age, Bethesda’s first team is the strongest in this area. But the most important thing is to keep it fun and develop technique skills. League and team are less important.

Our 6 year old is wrapping up his first rec league with SAM soccer and has really loved it. He is soccer obsessed, plays at recess and after school, and in the basement. He's always been interested in it but in the last few months has improved and seems serious about it. What's the most serious track to get him on for soccer in the North Potomac/Rockville/Bethesda area? The kids on his team are sweet but half of them are not that into playing at all. Do I try him out for Bethesda in the spring? Is Potomac a better option? Friends in MSI report that their leagues (both U8 and U7) are the same and don't feel that serious. For various reasons we won't be doing the travel soccer thing til he's a lot older so I'm really looking for something local where the serious soccer obsessed kids to go play and improve. Where do we go? What route do we take? best to keep him in MSI/SAM and play him up (he's in U7) where he can get plenty of touches on the ball and play time? Please help a local soccer loving family out.
