Have her go to a good gynecologist and let them discuss her options. I went on the pill at 16 with my mother’s blessing and my boyfriend at my side. (Side note: that boyfriend and I were together until the end of high school. Then we met up again four years later and have been happily married for over 20 years).

Wish I'd had a mother like you OP. Wonderful your DD has you to help with this.

My DD got the arm implant before leaving for college and really likes it.

The pill. Easy to manipulate periods. She has to be sure to take it though. I cannot imagine my teen daughter getting an iud if she’s never given birth.

I have heard Good things about new iuds for teen girls from other moms - not there yet (13) but will be. My 17 year old son tells me a lot of girls have iuds or on pill- still emphasize condom use!

They make an iud for young women/those who haven’t given birth. I’d recommend it. Hormonal iuds changed my life for the better and I wish I had one 20 years ago.

Both great. Have her talk with her gyn so she's comfortable. Go Mom! Love that you respect and love her enough to do this!

What is the best type of birth control for a 16 year old in a long term relationship. I think either implant or IUD. Does anyone have recommendations.
