HA! One of the reasons we bought our house was because there was a perfect loop around the inside for the kids to run. When they were little and just learning to walk, we would chase them around, when they were toddlers and friends came over they would chase each other around it, and now they're 4 and 5 and to get some late-night sillies out I'll time them doing laps!
They don't really scream anymore unless they're being chased and laughing hysterically.

Yes, after dinner the kids run laps around the house for like 5 min. Sometimes we take it outside other times I let them do it inside. I join them too. Sometimes I'll pop up and scare them (which they think is hillarious), sometimes ill put on some music, sometimes ill just let them be goofy.
It is short lived. Like 5 min. I choose my battles; this isnt one of them.

When does it stop? I can’t stand it.

We've created space for this. They will love it if you occasionally drop what you are doing and take off after them. It only lasts for a few years.

Yes, 100% all did, my friends' kids, my kids, when they were together kids... it is perfectly normal. I had outdoor to do so, if you are keeping your kids in, well.... they will do it inside. Stop stifling your kids people!

I think it's fine, normal child behavior. Kids are just having fun. What is too loud depends on your own tolerance, and safety of the rooms. Maybe send them outside to get the major wiggles out.

Yes it’s normal. If they need to burn energy why don’t you take them outside. If you’re busy making dinner or something yes it’s something you need to deal with because your kids obviously need to go outside. Most moms are doing something other than catering to the kids like laundry, cleaning, cooking so if the kids need to burn energy it’s going to be done in the house. This is why many people want to have basements so the kids can be loud and it doesn’t bother them.

Yes, my 4 year old does this. It's the only thing making me want to move from our Dupont row house to somewhere with a yard and a climbing tree. They have energy that needs to come out....

That's still loud and fast. Sometimes louder.

No. And I have five. We don’t run in the house. And we don’t yell in the house. Those are outside activities.

Yes, mine occasionally does this. Age 7. When friends come over they all do this.

No, mine did not do this. I grew up in a big family and if we behaved that way indoors, we were sent outside to get the wiggles out. If you have a room where they can safely go wild, fine, but most rooms in a house are not safe for that behavior.

Do your kids do this? I was an only child, so I don't know what is normal and what is considered going "wild." I am also sensitive to noise and chaos and it bothers me when they do this, but if it's a normal part of childhood I guess I need to suck it up and deal? I usually try to redirect or just go somewhere else when it happens, but sometimes it can be hard to do without like, turning on the TV or offering some other undesirable distraction.
