Agree with this. If your child's home school is a Hoover or Pyle, 4s on either test are probably disqualifying unless your child is ESOL or FARMS. 99th percentile MAP and 99th Cogat and straight As are probably a starting point. No idea how they would differentiate among those kids.

How is this happening when a not-insignificant percentage of Easter/TPMS admits had 80th percentile MAP and 4s on PARCC?
How are the very high flyers like PP's child supposed to get access to accelerated curriculum and a peer group? Even if there are 20 or more kids like this at her child's MS the chances of all of them being in a single class together are practically nil. Most likely they will get mixed in with good but not elite students.

I have one of those "good" students at a high performing MS but 2/3 of the grade falls into this category. It's more the norm to be in the enriched classes than the other way around.

Various factors are considered for magnet and PARCC is just one of them.

I don’t know that PARCC scores really made a difference, but I have a child in a ms magnet, and she scored in the 840s in both ELA and math in 4th grade, which were the most recent PARCC scores when she was admitted. She got all 5s for PARCC and MISA in 5th grade, but her scores weren’t quite as high as 840s.

^^A high percentage of the grade got 4s and 5s. More than 40 percent for one.

I have basically no hope for Eastern for DC who got 4 math (one point short of 5) and mid-5 ELA. From a W cluster.

CES weighs heavily on peer cohort, first and foremost.

If your child was admitted to a CES or MS magnet what were his or her PARCC scores? Does MCPS use the numerical score (0-850) or the performance level (1-5)? I keep reading people say their children got all 5s on the PARCC but did not get in.
